Peter Broderick has always been one for a collaboration, and his latest release finds him working with artist East Forest. Their collaborative album Burren is a collection of songs that blend ambient and folk together in a nice amalgam that recalls artists such as Harold Budd and Brian Eno. But it’s the song “In The Middle” that really appeals. It starts off slow, with Broderick singing, but quietly in the background the melody builds, until it finally crescendos into a very danceable rhythm that works quite well with the ambient textures of the song. This is a new form of dance music, one that doesn’t have a name but doesn’t need it; it’s simply good music.
