Song Of The Week: Sons of Kemet, “Adonia’s Lullaby”

British jazz band Sons of Kemet have made a name for themselves in the world of modern jazz and electronica. Their sound incorporates traditional instrumentation but warps them and stretches them past their (and your) comfort zone. Doesn’t mean the music isn’t lovely; it’s very pretty at times. Such as on the lackadaisical “Adonia’s Lullaby,” where the groove is smooth and the clarinet is very tantalizing and coy. Burn, the album that it comes from, turned ten this year and this anniversary edition offers a good chance to revisit an album you should know.
