I don’t have a ton to say about this album, but I do have to say that I never understood the backlash towards it. I don’t understand why some people thought this was a mediocre record; to my ears, it sounds just like its predecessors. Was it because of the boring “sellout” concept? Was it because they allowed themselves to be prettied up by their record label and presented as heartthrobs and objects of lust?
My money’s on the turntables and scratching DJs.
To my surprise, this album was their best seller, even though it was a flop in the eyes of the industry.
