3AM Eternal: Dick Robinson And His Makebelievers, “The Boppin’ Martian” (1958)


What happens when teenage martians get bored with their home planet? They cruise to earth to party with the hepcats and the greasers, of course! This little ditty came to Earth via Dick Robinson, a Phoenix native who had a fun song and a novel concept. It’s dumb fun, of course; the alien voice is hilarious, and reminds me of Eugene Levy‘s alien character in Waiting For Guffman. Ah well, the absurdity of it all was the fun part of the era!

But maybe Robinson was an alien, as he left this single and disappeared into the vast galaxy of obscurity….
