Lambchop‘s Kurt Wagner has a way with a tune. Whether his own composition or a well-chosen cover, his unique arrangements and vocal style allows songs to blossom and flourish. Hearing that the new Lambchop record TRIP would be a cover album, it excited us even more. When we heard that the first single would be a cover of Wilco’s superb “Reservations,” well…we’ll let you figure out what happened next. The song didn’t disappoint, either; turning the song into a thirteen minute sonic exploration proved a brilliant move. Wagner’s take offers a much more experimental arrangement–and we wonder if Tweedy himself wonders why he didn’t think of it…
