When siblings harmonize, the results can be beautiful. Witness That Dog. The Bee Gees. The Beach Boys. When parent and child harmonize, their singing creates a unique magic. Such is the case for Suzzy Roche and her daughter Lucy Wainwright Roche. They are set to release their third album, I Can Still Hear You, and it’s the balm for turbulent times. Mother and daughter intertwine beautifully throughout a collection containing both originals and covers. We’re especially moved by their version of traditional Irish tune “Factory Girl,” which mother Suzzy first recorded in 1980 with her sister trio The Roches for their second album, Nurds. The rest of I Can Still Hear You offers the same sort of tranquil, healing folk music you’ve come to expect from both artists, but more importantly, it’s simply a beautiful record from start to finish.
