Los Angeles-based Bodies Of Water came of age in the era of Blog Bands, but don’t hold that against them. They’ve returned with their first new album in five years, Is This What It’s Like, and it’s a corker of an unclassifiable listen. With four-part harmonies, eclectic instrumental choices, and stylistic shifts, Bodies Of Water have never been easy to pigeonhole. And that’s why we love them.
We’ve fallen in love with the song “Trust Your Love,” even though we could say nice things about the other ten songs. Why this one? Well, when you have a sound that could best be described as Fela Kuti collaborating with Vince Clarke on a Stephin Merritt composition for a 6ths recording featuring ABBA‘s Agnetha and Frida.
Inaccurate? Definitely not.
