Ever since hearing their debut album Con Law, we’ve been big fans of New Orleans-based duo Generationals. So when we heard that they enlisted the help of Sarah Jaffe for their new EP Ileana, we couldn’t wait to hear it. “Tryin’ To Reach Ya,” one of their collaborations, didn’t disappoint us at all. It’s a bleep-and-beat ridden track that goes PURE POP in only the best of ways; Jaffe’s singing reminds us of Robyn and Donna Lewis, which instantly won us over. It’s adventurous, it’s daring, but most importantly, it works. Here’s hoping the three work together again, as Ileana hints at just how good a full length could be.
