3AM Eternal: Combustible Edison “The Millionaire’s Holiday” (1994)

If you can’t taste the delectable taste of rum when you listen to the music of Combustible Edison, you just don’t get it, then. This jazz quartet was ahead of its time in making retro sounds, and that’s the lovely Miss Lily Banquette singing to you from another world. Their music was pure lounge, baby, and they never did it better than they did on their debut album, I, Swinger. No, really–they set the (tiki) bar high, and subsequent records merely repeated the magic, never improving on it.

The best of the best is this song, which is as loungy and as cool as you’re going to get.

Dig in, and have a designated driver at all times!
