It is through member J.D. Sumner and their association with Elvis Presley that most people know of The Stamps Quartet, but that’s only a very, very small portion of the quartet’s history. The quartet was formed in 1924 by Frank Stamps in Upshur County, a small county in East Texas, and recognition came quickly to the group, and though members have come and gone, they’re still a very active touring and recording force.
