One of the finest slices of 1960s vocal pop comes courtesy of The Cascades. Released in 1962, the song would become an international success the following year. In its own peculiar way, the song is a wonderful bridge between the vocal harmonic pop of the late fifties and early sixties and the forthcoming British Invasion.
The song may have been a hit for The Cascades, but it’s lived on well past the era thanks to a handful of covers, but one of my favorites has to be last year’s cover by Sylvie Simmons, and you can check it out here, and though we’re not fond of the unnecessary f-bomb, we can’t deny the loveliness of this version:
