Dear faithful readers of The Recoup,
This weekend has been a blur, thanks to the news of the sudden death of my childhood best friend, Bryan Lambert. I have so much to say about it and him and life and death and all sorts of thoughts, but I have not been able to articulate them in a way that I find particularly enjoyable or, well–coherent.
I spent Saturday in a tailspin of emotion, and I sought solace in the one place I knew would give me comfort–music. I ensconced my spirit and my mind in dirges, ballads, funereal sounds, all trying to make sense of this, this, this death thing…this…..natural thing that takes place every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every week, every month, every year, eternally, everywhere around the world.
I’m still in shock, two days later.
In the wee small hours of Saturday night and Sunday morning, this was borne. This podcast is dedicated to him, a requiem mass for the 21st century. I don’t really have that much to say about it other than even thought it’s two hours long, it could easily have been four or five hours long and it still wouldn’t have been complete.
Bryan leaves behind a wife and a teenage son and daughter. If you feel so moved, please consider donating here: Lambert Family fundraiser.
We will return with regular updates this week. Thank you for understanding.
