German progressive duo Cluster‘s discography is wide and long, and for those not familiar with the group might be at a loss about where to start investigating and experiencing them. German label Bureau B asked well-known American experimental musician John McEntire to compile his favorite Cluster selections. The result, Kollektion 6: Cluster, is an eleven track sampler that does the trick. All of the selections are fantastic, but I’m partial to “Zum Wohl,” taken from the band’s influential 1976 release, Sowiesoso. An excellent set for the young student of European electronica and progressive music.
Kollektion 6: Cluster is available now from Bureau B.
