Manchester-based post-punk band Ludus made their own rules. They created an angular, off-beat, and wholly unique sound, helmed by Linder Sterling. Though their existence was low-key, their image and legend has only grown in the years following their split in 1984. Nue au Soleil (Complètement) was a Belgian best-of initially released in 1987, and to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, Les Disques du Crépuscule has expanded the set with additional songs, as well as a second disc that includes their Peel Session and a recently-discovered professionally-recorded live appearance. One such newly-added track is “Breaking The Rules,” a catchy, upbeat number with a twist of jazz, and it sounds more like the introduction to a delightful new band than it does a farewell.
Nue au Soleil (Complètement) will be released 20 January 2017 via Les Disques du Crépuscule.
