Been a fan of the Tennessee-based ambient duo Hammock for several years now, and their newest release, Mysterium, is easily their finest, most sublime work to date. That’s saying a lot, considering that they trade in some of the most beautiful music you’re ever going to hear. Mysterium is a tribute to a friend and loved one who recently passed away, a young man who looked up to Hammock mastermind Marc Byrd. Somber and beautiful without ever being morose, this is an album of stunning, quiet, subtle beauty.
