Twenty years ago, pop maestro Jyoti Mishra released a little song called “Your Woman” that quickly became a hit for his long-running project White Town–and just as quickly as it became a hit, the group promptly went back into obscurity. Yet the song has never lost any of its charm, and still pops up on radio playlists every day, a perennial pop hit from 1997. Mishra’s never stopped making music, though, and as a holiday treat, he released “Your Woman 1917,” a re-imagining of the song in the style of that era. It’s a testament to the song’s potency that it still sounds as wonderful as its original version, even in this slower, more meticulous arrangement. Enjoy!
