It’s been seven long years since Arizona alternative rock/power pop band Gin Blossoms released new material, but it appears to have been worth the wait. After fits and starts––due in part to the death of their longtime producer John Hampton––the band began working on the album in 2016 with legendary producer Mitch Easter and studio master Don Dixon. Considering the two men each have long and amazing discographies, hearing the news whetted our appetites, and from this first listen we are most certainly not disappointed. This is classic power pop, and the Gin Blossoms have never sounded better. You could do a lot worse than checking out Mixed Reality, which is due June 15 via Cleopatra.
