It’s been twenty years since the appearance of Colorado-based progressive bluegrass band Yonder Mountain String Band, who hit it out of the park with the absolutely fantastic Elevation. Since then, they’ve become revered in their field, releasing award-wining and critically acclaimed albums, as well as becoming a well-loved touring act. Elevation, revered as it is, fell out of print. To honor its 20th anniversary, the band has rereleased it on double vinyl. “Darkness And Light” was one of that album’s highlights, written by mandolin player Jeff Austin, who passed away earlier this year. It’s a fine epic bluegrass tale and a tribute to a talented young musician.
