It’s been way, way too long since Courtney Love has given us new material–whether as a solo act or with her beloved band Hole. “Mother,” taken from the soundtrack to the forthcoming horror thriller The Turning, shows exactly why we’ve missed her. Whether it’s the cryptic lyrics or her wary and foreboding singing, this is Courtney at her best. The soundtrack doesn’t look too shabby, either; featuring a selection of modern female musicians ranging from Alison Mosshart and Kim Gordon to Sunflower Bean. Both films and soundtrack certainly seem like something to look forward to in the new year.
