It is probably safe to assume let anyone who would name their band cassowary has a keen sense of humor . Thankfully, that proves to be the case for Miles Shannon, who records as Cassowary. Shannon, a talented saxophonist and multi instrumentalist, came to prominence after working with Frank Ocean. Cassowary’s debut album is a musical delight; Shannon doesn’t shy away from wanting to make the listener smile. This is experimental music that is deceptively easy on the ears . We love the whole thing, but we’re super fond of the relatively straightforward chill-out groove of “Superhiro,” a restful balm for times like ours.
