Andre Salvador & The Von Kings have the distinction of being one of Last Night From Glasgow’s only American signings. The appeal is understandable, though; their self-titled debut  makes us think Belle & Sebastian if produced by Dave Fridmann, while also recalling a more Bacharach-influenced Elliott Smith. The mastermind of the band, Tim Cheplick, has a knack for writing downbeat yet lushly produced melancholia. This style sounds the best on “Runaway Schemes,” a horn-laden affair that makes Cheplick’s trio a band well worth watching.
