Song Of The Day: Trashcan Sinatras, “Ways”

Trashcan Sinatras

Thirty years ago, Scottish pop band Trashcan Sinatras released “Obscurity Knocks,” their debut single. A fitting choice, perhaps; the band, lead by Francis Reader, may not have had a big hit, but they are certainly well-regarded. Their latest single, “Ways,” certainly shows why; Reader and company have yet to lose their knack for a wry lyric and a delightful melody. Their sophisticated indie-pop style certainly shows that quality songwriting never goes out of style. Our friends at Last Night From Glasgow will be releasing “Ways” and the band’s previous digital single “The Closer You Move Away From Me” as a limited edition 7″ single early next year.
