Chicago’s Bitchin Bajas specialize in weird but delightful music. Rooted in psych rock, their music takes odd creative and stylistic twists and turns that defy easy categorization. So it’s not surprising that their newest album would pay tribute to the equally weird but delightful Sun Ra. For Switched on Ra, Bitchin Bajas delved into the massive Sun Ra discography and pulled out some nuggets they felt needed to be reinterpreted. For our tastes, we loved the sunny tropical psychedelic beach number “Island In The Sun,” which has warmed us up nicely over the past cool autumn week.
