Song Of The Day: Susanna Hoffs, “Femme Fatale”

Susanna Hoffs

The Bangles’ frontwoman Susanna Hoffs has never been one to shy away from a cover song. She’s always been willing to share her musical taste with her audience and was doing so from the very beginning, when her band covered Emitt Rhodes on their 1984 debut album, All Over The Place. She’s since recorded a handful of cover albums with her friend Matthew Sweet, and her new album Bright Lights features ten gorgeous interpretations of songs from the Sixties through the Eighties. Our personal fave is her take on The Velvet Underground’s “Femme Fatale” which features her with a stripped down arrangement with guitar and percussion, It reminds us greatly of her super-obscure Paisley Underground supergroup cover band Rainy Day, as her take on “Femme Fatale” would have sounded perfect there.
