It’s exciting to have a new Everything But The Girl record to write about.Fuse is their first album in two decades, and it’s a classic return to form. The template is low-key, downtempo pop and dance music, not unlike their last few albums post “Missing.” But the track that stuck with us is “When You Mess Up,” which is a thoughtful reflection on being human. It was also the first song they wrote together since 1999, and it’s hard not to be intrigued by the late night groove and the little touch of autotune to Tracey Thorn‘s vocals makes it all the more seductive. Fuse is a hell of a comeback, and easily one of the best albums of 2023.
