3AM Eternal: Edith Frost “Evangeline” (1996)

Has it really been a decade since Edith Frost last released a record? Has it really been nearly two decades since Ms. Frost just auspiciously appeared with a four-song EP of beautiful lo-fi psych-folk? Yes, and yes; though she’s no longer making music, through the decade of her music-making she worked with people from such bands as Royal Trux, The Dirty Three, Manischewitz, and Califone. But she was always really effective and moving by herself, just her and her guitar. “Evangeline” was the first song on the first record, and it was a beautiful, dark, yet upbeat number that simply required a playful singing voice and a little guitar.
