One of the reasons I started The Recoup was to document the stories of bands and artists’ experiences, to tell the tales of the highs and lows of being in a band, and the business dealings therein. Five-Eight was a band with a lot of promise; check out their debut album, I Learned Shut Up; it was an awesome record. Anyway, long story short: when working on their album, Weirdo, their record label suddenly wanted them to make the next Nevermind–an absurd notion, especially coming from a tiny independent label.
The label stepped in an…well, watch the documentary. It will tell you much. This year, the band finally fixed the album and reissued it as they had intended it to be.
