Another day, another major passing for the world of music. This time, it’s legendary jazz/blues pianist Mose Allison, who left us shortly after his eighty-ninth birthday. His career was long, his discography compelling, all of which made him a man hard to pin down. My introduction to his music came with discovering his early jazz instrumental side in the early 1990s, and while I appreciated all of his music, I’m most fond of this era. “Crepuscular Air,” taken from his album Local Color, is a beautiful, mellow number, one that evokes the coolness of an autumnal evening.
