The band James has always had a very deliberate, well thought out release schedule, one that entails them taking their time in releasing new material, usually two to three years after the last album’s release, all the while maintaining a regular touring regime. Such is the case for 2018, with Tim Booth and company readying a new EP that is slated for release shortly before summer touring again. “Better Than That,” the lead single and title track to the new record, is a stunning return to form for a band that has never had a real problem losing its form. Jittery, hyper, and angular in a post punk way they haven’t been in a few years, it is a catchy, exciting number for a band that has yet ever really disappoint. It’s nice to hear some things have yet to change…
