Song Of The Day: Tess Parks & Anton Newcombe, “Gruenwald”

Brian Jonestown Massacre frontman Anton Newcombe‘s prolific release and YouTube publishing schedule has yielded some wonderful treasures, none more delectable than his 2015 collaboration with singer Tess Parks; I Declare Nothing. That album was all dreamy vocals and hazy psychedelic rock, with both members bringing out their partner’s best qualities. In the years since, Newcombe would publish the occasional demo track, promising at something more. Right On, a delectable four song EP, is an all too brief affair that seductively tantalizes the listener. The highlight of the set is the epic seven and a half minute trip of “Gruenwald,” which finds Parks dreamily cooing over Newcomb’s chugga–chugga psychedelic blues train ride, the kind he’s specialized in for years. With the summer upon us, you’re going to want to have a good jam. Well, kids, here it is…
