After an extremely busy decade which saw them touring the world and having a modestly successful recording career, British rock band Diesel Park West went on hiatus after releasing their fifth album, 1995’s FreakGene. Front man John Butler decided to release a solo album, The Loyal Serpent, which appeared in 1997 and has just been reissued on vinyl via Texas label Palo Santo. “Montpelier on ice” is a delightful little nugget buried within the grooves of this record, a straight up barroom rocker, complete with a fantastic horn section.
