This is a legendary meeting of the minds, with alt.country bad boy Robbie Fulks joining up with The Killer’s baby sister, Linda Gail Lewis, for an album that is absolutely Wild! Wild! Wild! in nature and execution. By wild, we mean fantastic, straight up rockabilly and honky-tonk, the kind of music you can only get by paying Bear Family a lot of money. But in my opinion, the high point of the album is “I Just Lived A Country Song,” a meta-commentary on country songwriting that is the funniest of its kind since David Allan Coe‘s fantastic 1975 hit single,”You Never Even Called Me by My Name.” Wild! Wild! Wild! is an album that is simply fun, created and performed by two people who know how to deliver quality material for your listening pleasure.
