Song Of The Day: Chicago Odense Ensemble, “Pretty Nice”

Chicago Odense Ensemble was the name of a one-off collaboration between members of the Danish psychedelic collective Causa Sui (featuring Jonas Munk, a composer we have admired for two decades) and members of Tortoise side project Isotope 217, recorded in 2008. Unsurprisingly, the music takes a decidedly trippy turn into jazz fusion territory, and we are especially fond of “Pretty Nice,” a gorgeous ambient jazz with guitars very reminiscent of Robin Guthrie. The album was released in super limited format several years ago but is now being made available digitally via El Paraiso.
