Shoegaze? It might be a bit hackneyed thirty years on, but Bay Area rockers Seablite‘s single “There Were Only Shadows” shows there’s plenty of fuel in the genre’s tank. Their debut proper, Grass Stains and Novocaine, comes out in June via Emotional Response, but this fantastic little taste–a fast-moving, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it two-minute rave-up of dreamy rock which reminds us both of genre definers Lush and modern practitioners Silversun Pickups–makes a clear case as to why it may well be one of the summer records of 2019.
