Song Of The Day: Purple Mountains, “Darkness and Cold”

We recently wrote of the brilliant debut single from David Berman‘s new project Purple Mountains, and we noted how it perfectly described the feelings associated with a major depressive episode. The second single from the forthcoming self-titled debut album tackles another unpleasant feeling with equal clarity and emotion–the feeling of knowing your partner is cheating on you. That he does so with an upbeat easy country rocker will lull you away from the utterly painful tale of broken-heartedness that beats underneath. Once again, the evidence shows that Purple Mountains may indeed be one of the best albums of 2019.
