Song Of The Day: Jacco Gardner, “Autumn In Lisbon”

Dutch composer Jacco Garner made waves with his most recent album, Somnium, which delivered gorgeous ambient pieces and instrumental passages from his manipulation of traditional instruments. His latest release, Fading Cosmos, is a two-track EP containing two seven-minute long excursions. The b-side, “Autumn In Lisbon,” is a very pretty acoustic number that ambles quite nicely through a park on a cool Fall afternoon. Recalling John Fahey, Brian Eno, and even pre-Dark Side Pink Floyd it’s a delightfully wistful number that is in no hurry to end, a chilled-out track that will drop the temperature twenty or thirty degrees.
