The brilliant Royal Trux–fresh on the heels of their amazing comeback album White Stuff–have decided to make life a little more interesting by handing over some of that album’s finest tracks to the equally talented Ariel Pink, resulting in a collaborative remix EP entitled, naturally, Pink Stuff. While we’ve no idea what the rest of this record is going to sound like, the first taste is definitely intriguing; “Suburban Junky Lady” is turned into a bizarre new wave blues dirge. Yet for its newness, it sounds like classic Trux–Jennifer Herrema and Neil Hagerty singing together over a hazy, drugged-out groove, sounding absolutely divine–if you like that kind of thing. And guess what?
We love that kind of thing.
