NEON BROWN, the debut album from Minnesota’s Velvet Negroni, struck us as one of the better albums of 2019, and we’ve been eagerly awaiting his next move. His newest single, “Bagette,” doesn’t disappoint. Starting with twinkling guitars and some soulful ruminations, it soon transforms into something darker and more ominous. Visionary Jeremy Nutzman possesses a sexy, seductive voice that can turn deadly when he’s spitting venom. Yet it’s this combination of beauty and anger that makes “Bagette” such a compelling listen. It certainly makes us eager to hear more from this talented young artist.
