Growing up in the late 1970s, we have a natural sweet spot for Swedish pop superstars ABBA. Drop-dead beautiful musicians wearing sparkly clothes, flashing even more sparkly teeth while they’re throwing down some amazing harmonies over super-catchy beats? Hooked for life. So, when the vaults were opened to release a 1979 Wembley Arena performance, we were excited. ABBA Live At Wembley Stadium didn’t disappoint. Offering Agnetha, Frida, Benny, and Bjorn at the peak of their powers, the live set served as a fitting close to the 1970s.
Though their 1978 album Voulez-Vous contained some definitive disco numbers, it also contained this superb number. “I Have a Dream” blossoms with the addition of a children’s choir, easily stands as one of ABBA’s finest moments. This live version shows that the studio version was no fluke, either. It’s a perfect moment in a collection that contains nearly two hours of perfect moments.
