Song Of The Day: bis, “Social D(ist)ancing”

Glasgow indie-pop stars bis have returned with a brand new (old) song, “Social D(ist)ancing,” released last Friday as part of the Bandcamp no-fee day. Though this is a new release, it’s not a new song; originally titled “Social Dancing,” it was a leftover from the band’s third album 2001’s premature farewell, Return To Central. It was resurrected for the superb 2014 anthology 20 Years Of Antiseptic Poetry as a bonus track. Yet with the state of the world, the band resurrected it again. With a fresh spin and arrangement, the song is an ode to the joy of dancing in your bedroom. You are the DJ who will save your life, after all, and with its Gary Numan-minded nod to isolation, bis offer the perfect soundtrack to social d(ist)ance to.
