Denton’s Midlake went on hiatus a few years ago, shortly after the release of their fourth album, Antiphon. But now they’re slated to return in 2022 with a brand new album, For The Sake Of Bethel Woods. Created over the course of the last year, and produced by John Congleton—their first full length to employ an outside voice—last week they released the album’s first single, “Meanwhile…”. Frontman Eric Pulido croons sweetly over an upbeat, swirling psychedelic melody that reminds us of Blue Oyster Cult. It’s a delightful track and one that promises that next year won’t be short of good new music.
