3AM Eternal: Fever Tree S/T (1968)

Fever Tree hailed from Houston, and scored a minor hit with the song “San Francisco Girls (Return Of The Native),” an intelligent, tasteful psych-rock number. This, their debut, was a promising mix of rock, folk, and classical–pay attention for the various classical elements that pop up, you’ll be pleasantly surprised–and though they wouldn’t top that success, they would release three more albums of excellent psych-rock.

What also makes this album notable is that the fifth song, “Filigree & Shadow,” inspired This Mortal Coil‘s second album title. 4AD mastermind Ivo Watts-Russell is a fan of this album, and you can hear why. Four decades later, this album still impresses and delights….
