3AM Eternal: BeBe Winans “In The Midst Of The Rain” (1997)

Rain is regularly used as a metaphor for cleansing, forgiveness, renewal. With the power of rain, the grass grows; thus, life springs from it. Of course, the theme of growth and rebirth is a theme in Christian music, and Gospel in particular.

A fine example of this is BeBe Winans‘ 1997 track, “In The Midst Of The Rain.” It’s an R&B ballad, a slow jam that works both as a love song and as a praise song. You could take it to be about that special someone…or you could take it as God’s loving grace…it’s up to you. Either way, it’s a fine number.

A Happy Easter and a Blessed Passover to our friends who celebrate these holidays.
