Has any artist’s back catalogue been more exploited than that of Jeff Buckley? The man released only one album in his short life, and yet he has four “greatest hits” packages? One can understand why, though, people find him to be fascinating–his was a truly wonderful voice that was silenced by a dumb act. Listening to “So Real,” the dreamy first single from Grace, it’s easy to understand why; his voice is compelling, strange, and beautiful, while the video appealed to the more superficial aspects of his physical beauty (as well as the dumb trappings of “alternative rock” goofiness). It wasn’t a commercial hit, but it garnered him plenty of critical acclaim.
