Chameleon was the one-and-done project of notable jazz studio musician Azar Lawrence, a late-period disco group with a decidedly funk-influenced sound that blended jazz with groove. The group would have one minor hit, “Get Up,” and though the studio group was a diversion in a long, storied career, the album itself is a hidden jewel from the era. Personal fave is the groove of album cut “Wishing A Dream.” which is all big horns and smile-inducing and foot-moving groove.
Chameleon will be released via Big Break Records.
