Okay, so I’ll admit, I was never a fan of Dokken, and after an incident involving yours truly, Don Dokken, and a box of Fiddle Faddle, it’s impossible for me to take the man seriously. But I’m also not one who is going to deny a band the credit they deserve when they release a good record or write a good song. Their 1988 album, Beast From The East, was a fun record. It was a live album from the band’s tour of Japan, and this performance of “Dream Warriors” is superb. The title track from Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, it was a minor hit in 1987. Rock Candy Records has restored Beast From The East to its full, two-disc, seventeen-song glory, and okay, maybe three decades on I’m a little more receptive to Dokken and their metal and power ballad glory. But I will never stop laughing at him over that Fiddle Faddle pretentiousness…
Beast From The East is available now via Rock Candy Records.
