It’s been twenty-five years cents Mazzy Star delivered to the world “Fade Into You,” a perfectly hazy psychedelic rock number that was something of a hit. They’ve drifted in and out of existence over the past three decades, but recently reemerged with an EP entitled Still, offering new material and new interpretations of old songs. “So Tonight That I May See,” the title track of their breakthrough sophomore album, has been reimagined, the jangly psychedelic folk of the original has been replaced with a slick, dark psychedelic blues that at times is not unlike the best work of Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. Yes, it really is that good; this exploration into a heavier arrangement is quite satisfying indeed, showing that the duo of Hope Sandoval and David Roback hasn’t lost their touch.
