Florida’s Copeland should have been a bigger, more commercially successful band; before they split in 2008, their career seemed to be progressing in that manner. Although their third album, Eat, Sleep, Repeat had been an unfruitful experience on Columbia, their fourth album You Are My Sunshine found them bubbling under the Top 40. Blushing is the band’s sixth album and is easily their best. ”Lay there” is a seductive number that is quiet storm groove, tempered with a deftly applied Auto-Tune highlighting leader Aaron Marsh’s vocals. It’s a sexy, intoxicating groove that is hard to resist.
