British psych-rocker Joseph Cave likes to blend up the past and the present, creating a heady sound that’s intoxicating yet refreshing, one that mixes in the psych groove of late 80s Madchester with more modern excursions a la The Beta Band and Alfie, “Magenta,” one-half of a new digital single serving as a taster for an as-yet unscheduled new album, is a swirling, trippy number with turned-on vocals relaxing and floating downstream over a subtle groove and bubbling loops. It’s a sensuous journey, and we’re definitely looking forward to hearing more!
