Last year, Canadian electronic composer Tim Hecker released Konoyo, a collaboration with the Japanese group Tokyo Gakuso, and found him blending their ancient sounds with his modern compositional style, resulting in a beautiful, underrated album. The just-released Anoyo serves as a companion piece, featuring songs recorded at the same time. Much like its predecessor, it’s a sublime listening experience, with the track “Step Away From Konoyo” being the perfect antidote to a stressful week and too-hot summer temperatures.
